Three Hour Guided Tour in a custom Beach Safari Cruiser. Kayaking portion of this trip will occur halfway through the tour at our kayak launch side on the 4×4 Beach. Our kayak tours are exclusive by nature. We limit the number of participants to reduce our impact on the environment. This helps keep the wildlife intact and every group enjoys wonderful sightings. We paddle with a maximum of 4-5 double kayaks through remote areas, maximizing the critter count. Sorry, no one under 5 years old.

Refunds and Cancellations

Cancellations:

If the party cancels a reservation within 48 hours of the scheduled tour time, Back Country Safari Tours Of The Outer Banks reserve the right to charge the customer 100% of the tour cost.

Refunds:

Any tour that is cancelled or postponed by Back Country Safari Tours Of The Outer Banks due to:

(1) inclement weather,

(2) vehicular malfunction which prohibits Back Country Safari Tours Of The Outer Banks from conducting business as scheduled,

(3) due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the availability of a guide in the case of a sudden injury or illness;

Back Country Safari Tours Of The Outer Banks will make every effort to reschedule a tour of the same or of lesser value if an amended reservation time can be agreed upon between the customer and BCST & SOTOB.

In the event that NO amended reservation can be made, the customer will be entitled to a full refund from BCST & SOTOB.

The Address Verification Service (AVS) is a tool designed by bankcard processors to assist in identifying potentially fraudulent credit card transactions. Take this tour if you feel like spending money on a 2 hour drive on the beach. Our Driver, Gator, was uncommunicative and taught us very little about the history of the horses and the area. There was no sound system installed, so when he did feel inclined to interact with us we had to strain to hear him.

Questioned Driver that checked everyone in at kiosk, His reply was "I'm just the driver and you will have to call the tour office to get that straightened out." Called tour office after tour and was told everyone gets that discounted rate due to it being off season. Beware of false advertising and arrogant customer service. Will never use again or make referrals.

Christmas Gift! For Christmas, my husband, sister-in-law and I visited Corolla to tour Corolla Christmas Village, the Whalehead Club and to take a Corolla wild horse tour. We enjoyed a very memorable trip and the horse tour was my favorite, even in cold weather! Tricia, our guide, was fun and knowledgeable and we saw plenty of horses, even in winter. We saw wild horses walking at the ocean's edge, in the dunes and wading in the canal. Tricia offered entertaining and educational information throughout the tour and I highly recommend. If you go in cold weather, dress warmly and bring a blanket and gloves!

Excellent We used Back Country Safari Tours in early November 2022, and really enjoyed it. Our tour guide, Tom (Gator) as I recall, was humorous and informative. He'd been on the Outerbanks all his life, and answered our questions. We saw 20-some horses that day, and learned of history and local residents. Back Country Safari Tours was one of only a couple or few wild horse tours open so late in the year. Word of warning: Dress for very cold weather. Although speed limits are only 15 mph, the wind along the shore was very cold. I wish I'd had gloves to hold my camera. Also, get in line early, and get one of the corner seats (front corners are best) to get the best pics. We spent $50 for each of us, which is about the same as the other tours.

Worth it!! This is a must-do when in Corolla. We were not expecting to see a lot of horses in the "off-season" months but we saw about 20 wild horses. Our tour guide, Gary, was very informative with telling stories of the horses and their different families/territories. He also was very entertaining and told some silly jokes to liven up the ride. If you go in the winter months, do bundle up. Even though it was sunny and 58 degrees, the wind from the open air drive is chilly. We are glad we did this event and would definitely reccommend Back Country Safari Tours.

Awesome 4x4 Tour Our guide, Tricia, is a natural when it comes to creating an historical and light humored tour of the 4x4 wild horse area of Corolla and Corova. It’s a must do adventure even if you are not staying in the northern OBX. My wife and I saw at least a dozen wild horses and enjoyed the adventure through the dunes. Highly recommended! And don’t forget to tip your guide ;-)

Horse Tour Was Awesome Took the family for wild horse tours. Our guide was knowledgeable and gave us local history as well as information about the horses themselves. We saw 15+ horses throughout the area.
